BEN PROTHERO

Ben has a degree in visual arts from London College of Arts and a Crafts Certificate in Blacksmithing. He worked for a number of well regarded and successful smiths before establishing his own business nearly 20 years ago, going limited in 2021. Ben ran courses on blacksmithing for over 10 years and taught in conjunction with the Royal Agricultural University, The Princes Trust and The Churn Project, helping jobless young people learn traditional crafts.

OUR TEAM comprise of highly skilled and experienced metalworkers.  We use a combination of traditional and modern forging techniques to create bespoke metalwork designs. Our workshop is located between the towns of Stroud and Cheltenham in Gloucestershire.

As well as creating bespoke metalwork for a many individual clients. B Prothero & Co work with a number of conservation building companies, church conservation trusts and historic building charities. We do careful restoration and repairs and replica metalwork. We make  structural metalwork and specialist parts to exact engineered specifications. We have made many public space structures like seating commissioned by parish and town councils.

Using steel, stainless steel, bronze, copper, aluminium or iron; our specialisms include railings, handrails, gates, casement windows and garden structures. From original concept to full site installation, we pride ourselves on being friendly, considerate and approachable at every stage.
